I just recently came across the fact than many summoners, despite being level 30, are yet to play their first ranked game. Now, we can make the assumption that this is because solo queue is Hell on Earth, and that perhaps they have been able to arrange a premade. On the off-chance that some folks just don't "feel ready" for their first ranked queue, have no fear! Allow me to share some "before you ranked" tips.
First and foremost, have some champions. Draft mode requires you to have 14 champions available, but in my opinion - you should have more. In my most humble opinion, you should own 2 of every role before your first queue. By that I mean, one should have two tanks able to play, two carries, two casters, etc. With this, you can be certain you can fill any role needed for the team, without having to fear bans or the other team's picks. Hopefully.
Another, slightly more obvious preparation is to have your runes. There are a vast number of guides on your first rune pages, but you can figure that out on your own. Runes are generally very personal, and only really pertain to the champions the summoner plays. It's a bit in-depth for a blog post, but long story short - have runes.
Lastly, chill. It sounds idiotic, but don't go into your first ranked game after an eight game losing streak. Don't ever play ranked off a losing streak. Don't queue if you're in a bad mood, don't try and boost your ELO when you can't boost your mood, and just be ready for the best and worst. These are all seemingly really simple tidbits of information, but a good mood contributes to a good game. It's a fact. Now cheer up, and queue some ranked!
P.S. Make sure you tell your mom not to interrupt for the next hour or so before you queue. Because after all, you can't pause LoL. And dinner being ready can really kill your ELO.

And don't queue ranked with someone who has left to go to dinner half way through the match before because chances are he'll do it again and again. Hah it's a funny story actually, there's this guy named Arglybargly...
True story, I was there.
I wasn't, but I could imagine the frustration
